What is the best spa size for your home? you need to find the right size that will fit your home.

Energy Efficiency

Electricity is required to run the jets and heater on your spa. You might see an increase in yourelectric bills depending on the type of spa you purchase, how often you use it, the water temperature, andthe electricity cost in your neighborhood. Manufactures say the cost of running your spa might cost about a one dollar per day to $50 per month.

The heater is the main user of energy, it will draw about 1,500 watts to 6,000 watts, depending on voltage.

With the rising cost of energy, manufacturers are producing more energy-efficient hot tubs.  

Energy efficient pumps, blower motors, and foam inside the Spas cabinet are great thing to look for when trying to get a more energy efficient spa. Always look for the energy star logo.

FILTRATION & WATER CARE

Spas always require an upkeep. You want your water to be clean, balanced, & sanitized. Ask your dealers about maintains services, some dealers may offer it. 

Filtration

Maintaining your filtration system is very important to keep your water and spa clean. 

​

How it works: Water passes through the filtration system capturing impurities and debris from your spa.  Even if your water looks clean you need to clean it, because it may have dirt, sweat, sun block, lotion, hair, etc.…   

Water Care

Water care is very important to keep your Spa clean, balance, and sanitized. 

  • You must test & adjust the water balance 2-4 times per week.

  • Clean your filter every 1-2 weeks.

  • Replace your filter every year. 

  • Drain and refill your Spa every 3-4 months. Clean your spa cover 2 times per week. 

Many dealers many also offer free water analysis.

INDUSTRY TERMINOLOGY

Understanding the terminology before going into a Hot Tub or Swim Spa dealership can be very helpful when buying your perfect hot tub. 

ACRYLIC

A most popular and durable synthetic material that most Spa are made from. They are typically very shiny and come in different colors. 

CIRCUIT BOARD

The internal brains for the Spa, it connects to all electrical components.

CONTROL PANEL

Brain of the spa, this is where you can adjust your Spa’s settings such as temperature, jets, filtration time and more. 

CABINET

Is the exterior surface of the Spa. It can be made from many different materials.

CIRCUIT BREAKER

A switch that allows to manually override an electrical circuit. It automatically cuts off power to prevent electrical shock.

COVER

The cover is to help retain heat and keep debris out of the water. 

CHLORINE

Chemical used as a disinfectant to kill bacteria. 

CIRCULATION PUMP

A low flow pump that pulls water from and pushes it through filters before it into the Spa. 

COVER LIFTER

It helps the spa from excessive wear and tear. It keeps the cover lifted so you don’t have to drag and pull your spa cover off. 

DEAFOAMER

A chemical used to reduce or eliminate foaming of the Spa water. 

DIVERTER VALVE

It controls the flow of water from your Spa jets. The valves split up water or air flow. 

FILTER

Assist to removes impurities and dirt from the water. It will help the spa overall performance.

FILTER CARTRIDGE

The filter used to trap debris and dirt before the water. 

FILTRATION RATE

The rate at which water is pumped through a filter and is measured in gallons per minute.

Components inside a stainless-steel heater housing that create and transfer heat to the water.

High-velocity stream which stimulates the body to help relieve discomfort in muscles.

IMPELLER

A small rotating wheel section of the pump that moves water in a Spa.

SHOCK

Spa sanitizer to achieve water purification and break down organic waste contaminants that cause odor and cloudy water.

SEATING CAPACITY 

The total number of seats in a Spa.

TEST KIT

A set of chemical solutions with color references for testing pH, alkalinity, and sanitizer levels in the Spa water. 

HP

Horsepower – how much horsepower your spa provides. 

SANITIZER

A product use to kill bacteria and purified the water in your Spa, such as chlorine, bromine, and biguanide.

SHELL

Interior surface of a Spa, it is generally made from acrylic material. 

TEST STRIPS

Strip used to measure the Spa Water’s pH and chemical balances. 

INSULATION

Insulation material in a spa shell to retain heat and save in electricity. 

JET PUMP

Motor in your spa’s engine used to provide thrust to Spa jets. 

SKIMMER

Mesh basket that removes large debris from the water’s surface before it reaches the filter, so it doesn’t get clogged.

SPA PACK

The nerve center that controls the functions and equipment in the spa. 

TOPSIDE CONTROLS

Buttons that control the Spa’s pumps, jets, heater and other features.

  • Ancient cultures used natural hot springs like the Japanese Macaques (Snow monkeys).

 

  • The snow monkeys bathe in hot springs up to five hours a day during the winter months.
